Sports Betting is Coming to a State Near You
Whether or not you want it, Sports Betting is coming to a state near you. States that once were united in the fight vs. legalization of sports betting, now are uniting (most of them) in the name of legalization. Dominoes are falling.
Since Nov '18, PA has brought in ~$134 million in taxes from sports betting. No, your eyes are not deceiving you - it's a huge number.
Since Illinois legalized sports betting in Mar '20, the state has brought in ~$40 million in taxes.
There are unrealized revenue streams, too, and they’re so unrealized that I can’t even yet tell you what they are.
19 states, to date, have legalized sports betting in one way, shape or form. Take those 19 & add in the 29 that have Sports Betting legislation on the floor in '21 and we could have as many as 47 states w/ legalized sports betting.
Legalization has created many opportunities for old businesses to reinvent , for new businesses to emerge & disrupt but, most importantly, it creates jobs.
