Fanduel: DFS Operator Solution

FanDuel is the name-brand DFS platform in the United States. As such their reputation depends on accurate, and reliable data to allow their customers to participate in the wide variety of contests on their platform. In October of 2020 FanDuel recognized the need to lean on multiple data partners to ensure 24/7 platform uptime for their users. SportsDataIO was able to match their existing data provider’s coverage and using our best-of-class documentation, was able to integrate within weeks to be used as a fail-safe for their platform.

Sleeper: Season Long Fantasy Solution

Sleeper set out to redefine the user experience for season-long fantasy by providing a facelift to what users expected to see when playing fantasy, and incorporating next-generation social engagement tools for players to not only engage within their leagues, but throughout the larger community as well. Sleeper approached SportsDataIO at their inception to secure all of the data feeds needed to power their platform, across sports data, fantasy data, and news. Five years later and they are reaping the rewards for their efforts: in the summer of 2020 they secured $20 million in Series B funding on the heels of surpassing more than 1 million active users on the platform and in September of 2021 brought in $40 million in Series C funding after surpassing 3 million active users.

Awesemo: Content & Tools Solution

Alex Baker AKA Awesemo is one of the most renowned DFS players in the country, reaching #1 in Rotogrinders DFS player rankings in 2017. Looking to capitalize on his notoriety he launched Awesemo.com to be a hub for DFS players in 2018. After a successful initial launch where they sourced data from another provider Awesemo realized they needed to find a reliable provider of data for their analysts to help them expand their presence and generate new and unique insights. They also wanted to supplement their content with an outside source. Starting with the NFL and then expanding to the NBA and NCAA Football, SportsDataIO provides Awesemo with the data and content to keep their audience engaged and informed.

Underdog: DFS Operator Solution

Underdog Fantasy was founded by Jeremy Levine, previous founder of daily fantasy sports startup DRAFT, which sold to Paddy Power Betfair for $48 million in 2017. Underdog approached SportsDataIO with a need for fantasy predictive models and news to accompany their core data offering in order to complete the full list of features of Underdog for its users. As a result, their platform brings season-long, weekly, daily, and pick ‘em contests like Best Ball Mania, allowing users a full menu of contest styles to pick from. The platform experienced immediate success, attracting the interest of investors such as the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Jersey Devils and Philadelphia 76ers, setting a clear path for the future that makes it seem likely that Jeremy and his team are well on their way for creating yet another fantasy success story.

numberFire: Content & Tools Solution

numberFire was one of the first entrants into the burgeoning Daily Fantasy Sports space after launching in 2010, with a mission to provide best-of-class data analytics and superior written content to their users. It’s the second half of that mission where SportsDataIO became involved, by offering their editorial team our suite of research products that allow their writers to slice and dice data in order to uncover trends and ultimately identify or confirm story subjects to bring to their users with their own flavor of interpretation and analysis. Their success is written into their history: five years after launch, they were acquired by FanDuel, another SportsDataIO customer, to be their consumer brands division.
