WNBA Workflow Guide
Competition Feeds
Standings, Rankings & Brackets
WNBA standings are available for the league, conference and division and includes data fields such as Wins, Losses, Winning %, Home vs Away, Last Ten Games, Points Per Game For/Against, Streak, and Games Back
Current Season Standings:
Standings are specific to the season type being requested (Pre, Reg, Post)
- PreSeason Standings - Includes wins and losses that are exclusively related to the PreSeason and stop updating during Game 1 of the Regular Season
- Regular Season Standings - Includes wins and losses that are exclusively related to the Regular Season and stop updating once the Post Season begins. In conjunction with the schedule this can be used to build a playoff bracket, as described below.
- Post Season Standings - Includes wins and losses that are exclusively related to the Post Season and not carry over any regular season or pre season wins and losses. Note that this does not include information to build a playoff bracket; that information can be found within the Schedules & Game Day Info feed alongside the Regular Season standings.
Bracket Construction:
Because the WNBA postseason playoff brackets are fully predictable based on standings, you can generate it by knowing the regular season standings followed by the winner of the post-season games.
Teams, Players & Rosters
WNBA Teams, Players, and Rosters all update regularly throughout the calendar year. During the WNBA off season clients should still continue to expect to see a number of updates as players are cut, traded, and signed to rosters in anticipation of the regular season.
- Player Profiles include data fields such as name, position, jersey, height/weight, home town, high school & college, and experience.
- Team Profiles include data fields such as name, city, conference, and home stadium/arena.
-
TeamID's are provided for all 13 teams and can be mapped directly to the schedules each season. - We track and manage all in season and off season roster moves, free agent signings, drafts, and retirements.
- All WNBA
GlobalPlayerID's start with 130.
Venues & Officials
WNBA Venue feeds include all active venues that are currently available to host games each WNBA season.
Venues:
- While WNBA venues remain relatively static, when a neutral site is scheduled to host a game, SportsdataIO creates a new profile for each new venue and adds it to the WNBA venues feed.
- Throughout the season, there are a number of WNBA games hosted at neutral venues. You can use the neutral venue field to determine if a game is being played at a neutral venue.
- If a team is playing in an NBA arena, the StadiumID for WNBA will be different than the NBA StadiumID.
Officials:
SportsDataIO does not track WNBA officials.
Event Feeds
Schedules & Gameday Info
The WNBA will release the schedules on a specific date which varies year-to-year but usually occurs after the previous WNBA Finals conclude. Once the schedule is we match and update our records. We have the schedule populated within a few hours of the official WNBA announcement.
- WNBA playoff series games are created prior to the series starting. If the series ends before all scheduled games are played, the originally scheduled games will still show up in the API, but they will have a 'NotNecessary' status.
- Day and time of games are in the Eastern Time Zone.
Scores & Game State
Scores and Game State are updated live during all games, along with the final score being provided after the game is completed and verified.
- Score includes the score for every quarter plus the final score for both teams.
- Game State includes things like score, current quarter, game clock, time remaining, and if the game is in overtime.
WNBA statuses: Scheduled, InProgress, Final, F/OT, Suspended, Postponed, Delayed, Canceled, Forfeit

Depth Charts
- Depth Charts will not be available for the WNBA.
Confirmed Lineups
- We will not confirm WNBA lineups pre-game, but these can be derived from the box score once the game is in progress.
Injuries

Thus, a player dealing with a long-term injury will have anInjuryStatus= Out but will remain with aStatus= Active. -
InjuryBodyPart: The body part affected. -
InjuryStartDate: The date at which the player's injury was first verified. -
InjuryNote: A written description of a player's injury, e.g.: "Clark is dealing with an ankle injury and will not take the court for the Fever."
