Available Data Feeds

Here at SportsDataIO we offer six feeds - Competition, Event, Player, Betting, Fantasy, and News & Images - across 40+ sports and hundreds of leagues worldwide. This page walks through what each feed actually gets you and how to apply it to your use case. No matter your vertical or your end goal, we can make it happen with our feeds.

You'll also learn about the lifecycle of our content and how it impacts your real-world product. From the start of a league to the schedule release, right through to the pre-game buildup, to the live event itself, and beyond, we explain what you need to know.

All of it comes from one API family. Need everything for 13 major leagues - full stat lines, odds from 10+ sportsbooks, play-by-play, snap counts? Our League API specializes in depth. For consistency and breadth across 40+ sports, from Alpine skiing to table tennis, all in one format? That's our new Global Sports API. And, of course, we can mix and match.

What's key to remember is that our feeds are here to bring you the data you need, when you need it, and to match your use case across Competition, Event, Player, Betting, Fantasy, and News & Images.

Competition Feeds

If Event Feeds make the sports calendar come to life, Competition Feeds provide the foundation. They are the reference layer every other feed, and your data products, get built on top of. These building blocks for the foundation come as standard with all our licenses to ensure you build right first time.

Standings, Rankings & Brackets

League tables, rankings, tournament brackets, and competition standings.

Ideal for: league-table widgets, playoff-picture graphics, bracket visualizations - anything that has to answer "where does my team stand right now."

Lifecycle: With NFL as an example: Preseason standings stop updating the moment Week 1 of the regular season kicks off. Regular Season standings freeze once the postseason begins. Postseason standings start from zero - nothing carries over from the regular-season record. Watch ClinchedDivision , ClinchedWildCard , ClinchedBye , and EliminatedFromPlayoffContention as the season narrows toward the playoffs - that's the data that turns a plain standings table into a playoff-race story.

Teams, Players & Rosters

Team, player, and roster information.

Ideal for: the team and player database underneath everything you build - profile pages, roster grids, free-agent trackers, draft coverage. Full team profiles include conference, division, colors, and stadium; player profiles are available by team, by free agent, and by rookie draft class.

Lifecycle: Roster churn spikes during the preseason as players are cut, traded, and signed, and we update these as they happen. A rookie class doesn't arrive all at once, and your product shouldn't expect it to: NFL players enter the pool at the Combine, again at the Draft, and again as undrafted free agents sign in the days after. Soccer transfer windows see mass player movement in real-time for the top competitions.

Venues & Officials

Venue information and match officials.

Ideal for: pre-game content that needs venue detail - capacity, location, surface - plus officiating-crew graphics for gameday broadcasts and previews.

Lifecycle: Referee data is maintained daily throughout the season. Stadium moves, renaming, capacity changes etc. are tracked as they happen.

Utility Endpoints

Supporting reference data used throughout the API: current/upcoming/last-completed season and week, bye weeks, active sportsbooks, "are games in progress right now" (5-second refresh - built for polling loops).

Ideal for: answering key questions every product needs settled before anything else - such as "what week is it" and "is anything live right now" - so the rest of your integration can decide what's worth calling.

Event Feeds

Event Feeds bring the sports calendar to life:

  • Schedules & Game Day Info - everything you need in the lead-up to the game, from the league's first announcement of the season right through to weather and rescheduling information as it happens.
    • Scores & Game State - Live scoring, clock, and other in-game context, bringing you the top-line information about what's happening on the field of play.
      • Team & Player Stats - Compiled as the game is ongoing, our team and player stats offer a live box score experience, plus curated season and team totals.
        • Play-by-Play - The most in-depth subfeed, you can follow each play with full narrative plus statistical information for every touch as it happens.

Read on to find out more about each.

          Schedules & Game Day Info

The Schedules let you know what's happening, when, where, and in what context. We bring you the facts facts: teams, date, time, venue, broadcast channel, weather forecast, and top-line pre-game odds, baked directly into the schedule object. Nothing on this record changes once the game is played, except the final Status . The who, what, when, and where.

Ideal for: populating calendar views, powering pre-game content modules, and grabbing the ID for a game or season to hang every other feed off of. The Schedules let you know what's happening, when, where, and in what context.

Lifecycle: Let's take NFL as an example. The NFL releases its full season schedule once a year, typically late April or early May; within minutes of the release, it's in the SportsDataIO feeds. As TV network information becomes available, we include it. Weather updates are offered frequently leading up to game time. Any postponement or other unexpected status change is immediately marked.

For leagues where schedules are frequently subject to change, and exact times aren't announced until late, we offer constant updates, and confirmed days with unconfirmed times.

          Scores & Game State

This is our live scores feed, and it builds on the Schedule to give top-line information about who's winning and how. Live during the event, we offer - depending on the sport - each participant's score, the clock, and other headline information. For example, soccer will return the game clock and the half. Baseball will give you the innings, hitter, pitcher, and base situation. For football, down and distance.

Ideal for: score tickers, live dashboards, anything that needs "what's happening right now, and who's winning."

Lifecycle: Live coverage begins the moment a game flips from Scheduled to InProgress, updating roughly 15-20 seconds behind the TV broadcast. Where it matters, we also offer a lighter, Final-only version of this feed alongside the full live-and-final version, so you can trade refresh cost for freshness depending on what your product needs.

          Team & Player Stats

Now we get to the meat of the Event Feeds: the deep, statistical information that fans crave and AI models require. Box scores, season stats, red zone stats, game logs - the full statistical record from dozens of leagues worldwide. Our Data Operations team collects stats as they happen and applies them to a clearly-formatted record for each player in each game.

Ideal for: AI modeling, fantasy scoring and analysis, betting verification, box score pages, statistical leaderboards, and all situational content that requires a keen statistical eye.

Lifecycle: Our box scores update at the same cadence as the game, 15-20 seconds behind broadcast. A few select stats may be returned after the game to allow for more detailed review, but the vast majority are updated as they happen, meaning that live box scores are a reality. Season-level stats are aggregated after the games end.

          Play-by-Play

Our most detailed Event Feed, the Play-by-Play feed is the closest thing to experiencing the game live. Detailed event progression for supported competitions - every down on the football field with narrative and statistical data, every pitch on the diamond, every pass, foul and shot in hockey and basketball.

Ideal for: Live game trackers, real-time win-probability graphics, second-screen companion experiences, and after-the-fact breakdowns of how a game actually unfolded.

Lifecycle: From the first play of the game to the last, every play is loaded as it happens, with both a written description and a play-level statistical output for every player involved in that one play. The live variant trails the broadcast by about 15-20 seconds, same as Scores & Game State.

          Player Feeds

Player Feeds give you the information you need on availability and expected participation - the layer that sits on top of rosters and answers "who's actually playing" as gameday approaches.

          Depth Charts

Who's slotted where, in order, for every rostered player expected to play this season. This is agnostic of injury status - a player on IR still shows up here if they're expected back before the season ends.

Ideal for: roster-battle storylines, "who starts if X is out" content, and any tool that needs a running picture of who a team turns to next at a position.

DepthOrder: 1 is the current starter at that position; everything below it is who the coaching staff would turn to next.

Lifecycle: Updated in real time all year as roster moves, injuries, and positional battles shuffle the order - treat it as the coaching staff's current intent, not a gameday confirmation.

          Confirmed & Projected Lineups

NFL doesn't ship a dedicated "lineup" endpoint the way batting-order sports do. Instead, the starter/inactive question is answered by combining Depth Charts above (who's starting, if healthy) with the Injuries feed below (who's been ruled out for this specific game).

Ideal for: DFS lineup-lock tools and batting-order graphics for sports like MLB and NHL that do publish an explicit lineup.

Lifecycle: Take NFL as an example. Gameday inactives are released by NFL teams 90 minutes before kickoff; we flip a player to inactive the moment we ingest that report. In sports with an explicit batting or starting order (MLB, NHL), a Projected Lineup is available up to 15 days out, and a Confirmed Lineup lands 2-4 hours before first pitch or puck drop - usually within minutes of the team's official announcement.

          Injuries

Status, body part, practice participation, and notes for every managed injury.

Ideal for: sit/start tools, injury-report graphics, and giving betting or fantasy products the context behind a sudden line move or a surprising box score.

Lifecycle: Full-roster injury tracking runs during the regular season and postseason; during the offseason and preseason, only players dealing with a serious injury are managed, so a healthy roster shows almost nothing here in July. In-season, teams publish practice-participation reports three times a week - shifting around short-week Thursday-night games - and we update on that same cadence.

A point worth knowing: In many sports, a player's roster status ( Active , Injured Reserve , Physically Unable to Perform , …) and their game-day injury designation ( Probable , Questionable , Doubtful , Out ) are two different systems that don't always agree - a player can carry both at once. This past training camp, Josh Sweat's roster status read "Physically Unable to Perform" while his injury designation separately read "Out" for a knee issue. We keep both fields, joined on the same player, precisely so your product doesn't have to guess which one is telling the truth.

          Betting Feeds

Betting Feeds are built for the businesses closest to the money - sportsbooks, media sites running betting content, and the analytics tools that sit between them. Whatever your book or platform needs, we've got the data to power it.

          Game Lines

Pre-game and live betting markets (spread, moneyline, total) across 10+ sportsbooks, with full line movement history.

Ideal for: odds boards, bet-slip pricing, and line-movement charts. Comparisons, machine learning, and big data metric measurement.

Lifecycle: We have opening, line movement, and closing lines for all the major sports and events; live odds move with the game once it starts.

          Props

We offer props across player, team, game, and miscellaneous categories, aggregated from top sportsbooks across the ecosystem.

Ideal for: Odds comparison, AI modeling, expert tips and picks, and anything else that needs the hottest betting data that fans engage with the most.

Lifecycle: Populates alongside game lines pre-game; results settle 10-15 minutes after the game, once stats are verified. Settled markets don't just disappear once a game is over - anything older than 30 days rolls into our historical Vault archive, so prop data stays queryable long after the season ends. Note that props are pre-game only; we do not carry in-play props at this time.

          Futures

Outright and season-long markets (championship odds, award odds).

Ideal for: championship-odds widgets, award-race trackers, and season-long content that needs to move with team performance rather than a single game.

Lifecycle: Live all season, moving with team performance; payouts settle once the outright market resolves - a champion is crowned, an award is handed out.

          Matchups, Trends & Splits

Historical head-to-head data, betting trends, and public betting splits.

Ideal for: matchup pages - all the sticky, pre-game context users expect to see once they've found the odds: how these two teams have played before, and which way the public money is leaning.

Lifecycle: Splits begin populating shortly after game lines post and the public starts taking action - thinnest early in the week, filling in as kickoff approaches.

          Fantasy Feeds

Fantasy Feeds are built to power your fantasy products - DFS platforms, season-long contests, and the tools built around both.

          Projections

Fantasy and statistical projections, pre-game, per player.

Ideal for: Sticky content for serious fans and DFS players, extra context around pre-game content, betting advice.

Lifecycle: Available as soon as the following week's schedule is set, then refreshed continuously through the week as practice reports, injury news, and - closer to kickoff - confirmed inactives change the outlook. A Tuesday projection and a Sunday-morning projection are different data, not a cached copy of the same number.

          Salaries, Stats & Points

DFS salaries (DraftKings, FanDuel, Yahoo, and more), fantasy points scored, and the underlying stat lines those points are built from.

Ideal for: DFS slate builders and live scoring trackers that need salary and scoring in the same place.

Lifecycle: Salaries are typically posted early in the week and can move if a slate changes - a late scratch, a postponed game. Fantasy points and the underlying stat line finalize on the same schedule as Team & Player Stats: provisional live, locked roughly an hour after the game.

          News & Image Feeds

News & Image Feeds give you the editorial content and media assets that keep users on-site and profile pages looking finished.

          Player News & Notes

Short-form player news and updates, timestamped, tied to a player ID for easy joining against roster, projection, and injury data.

Ideal for: profile-page sidebars, push-notification content, and an up-to-the-minute stream of what's happening across a league - headlines, injuries and sit/start context, trades, waiver-wire moves.

Lifecycle: Continuous throughout the day, with volume spiking around practice-report releases, injury news, and gameday. Joined to the same player and team IDs used everywhere else on this page, so it drops straight into the feeds above for the same player.

          Previews, Recaps & Breaking News

Editorial coverage before, during, and after events.

Ideal for: pre- and post-game content modules that keep users engaged before and after events, delivered as a wire-style feed or tailored to your brand's voice.

Lifecycle: Previews land in the days before an event, recaps within a couple hours after it ends, breaking news whenever something happens - no fixed cadence.

          Player Headshots

Player images for supported sports (NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, Golf) - contact us for more details on this.

Ideal for: profile pages and roster grids that need a consistent, fully-licensed headshot for every player, in a unified format and size.

Lifecycle: These are generated once per season.
